MDG Awareness Day 2007- April 20th-
8 years to act, One day to start
Each year the One World Youth Project organizes the MDG Awareness Day.
This day is an opportunity for all One World Youth Project participants to work together,
share their experiences and act to help achieving the
United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
How to participate:
Write a declaration about your focus MDG:
This declaration would include a paragraph about why it’s important to achieve this MDG and another about the way to achieve it (you can add some lines about your community service as an example of youth actions). All the declaration will be put together to make a declaration book about MDGs and sent to NGOs which work on MDG Advocacy. This is an opportunity to make your voice heard!
One idea: What about making a common declaration with your sister-group? If you are interested about making it, don’t forget to contact your mentor!
Declarations should be sent by May the 3rd to Soumaya@oneworldyouthproject.org
Choose one of these “local impact” activities
& do it on April 20th with your group:
- Organize a conference in your school about the MDGs or your focus MDG!
- Send an article about the MDGs to a local newspaper!
- Distribute leaflets about “Why it’s important to achieve the MDGs” in your neighbourhood!
- Create a street play on your focus MDG and perform it!
- Make posters talking about MDGs and paste them in public places!
Why should you participate?
- This is a unique opportunity to make your voice heard!
- You are going to take an effective part in the MDG advocacy movement and help achieve them; by participating you are being a part of the solution!
- You are going to learn how to make awareness!
- And… you will have fun with all the One World Youth Project Community!
