Who: Little Eco Friends

Where: Bangalore , India

Founded in 2001, the Little Eco Friends are a group of 500 schoolchildren with a core team of eight children between the ages of 10 and 15. All the Little Eco Friends members appreciate the environment and work for its protection.  "Our Mother Earth is a gift of God," say the Little Eco Friends, "It is our humble duty and responsibility to maintain it pristine for coming generations." 

 

 

The Little Eco Friends won the Volvo Young Environmentalist Award in 2002 and participated in the UNEP Tunza International Children's Conference on the Environment in July of 2004.  They plan to participate in the Young Agenda of 2005, in order to learn more about environmentalism and how they can take positive action. 

The Little Eco Friends meet every other Saturday and have taken part in numerous activities, including, planting trees, making presentations to schools, and organizing competitions. The Little Eco Friends speak English and Hindi.
