Who:
St. George's Independant School's Roots & Shoots group
Where: Collierville, Tennessee, United States

The St. George's Roots & Shoots group, albeit small in size, offers students a chance to make a difference not only in their own community, but around the world. Their most recent endeavor was the organizing of an International Peace Day event, where they built a peace dove, led a parade at their school, and performed poetry and music. In the past, their group has created a documentary video on child slave labor in Nepal, sent clothes to Mexico, and shipped computers to Tanzania.

The St. George's Roots & Shoots group meets Fridays after school to discuss their newest plans. There are very few other Roots & Shoots groups in Tennessee, and therefore they have made a commitment to begin educating other schools about the Roots & Shoots program.
The St. George's students are truly concerned about the condition of their city, state, nation, and world; they have realized that hoping for things to happen only goes so far, and that one must take action to effect change. The St. George's Roots & Shoots group has high hopes for the future of the world.
