Write a travel journal entry as if you were a visitor or tourist to your own town/city. What would you notice about your area? What kinds of things would you see? What would you do first as a visitor? Who would you talk to? Describe the nature and animals you might see. Write using the first person. For example, “Today I arrived in Salem, Oregon and the first thing I noticed were the tall trees…”

What type of transportation would you have used to get there? What might people be talking about in town? What would you do first as a visitor? Again, write using first person.
