The Kyanawara Children Environmental Project is a group of seventeen dedicated young people between the ages of ten and fifteen.  Seven of the members are boys and ten are girls.  Two are girls who attend secondary school and two are orphan village boys who cannot afford to attend school, the rest of the members are primary school pupils.  All the members live in the same village and speak Rutooro, yet some members can speak, hear, and write in English.

Members of the Kyanawara Children Environmental Project meet every Saturday and Sunday  On Saturday they plant trees or work on their nursery bed and on Sundays they compose songs, role-play, and take on other environmental, community, and animal rights activities.  Everyone in the village is extremely supportive of the Kyanawara Children Environmental Project, particularly the parents of the members.
