First day in Virginia... arrival at Greensboro airport

This afternoon I arrived in the Greensboro airport in the state of Virginia, USA. I was met at the airport by One World Youth Project Ambassador, Traci Kelly (who attends school in Danville, Virginia). We went out to lunch at a popular Italian chain-restaurant called the Olive Garden and then Traci dropped me off at my hotel in Danville. Traci had always told me that Danville was a very small town... but, I was not fully aware of how small Danville is until I arrived. For instance, there is nothing surrounding the hotel save for a few trees, a highway, and a Piggly Wiggly. The Piggly Wiggly is grocery store chain prevalent in the Southern United States. This is the first time I have ever seen a Piggly Wiggly and I would not usually take much notice of grocery stores... but this one has a large pink cartoon pig on its roof. The Piggly Wiggly was actually the first grocery store chain in the United States...so I suppose that means this pink cartoon pig is a significant part of my country's history. Tonight Traci and I will go out to eat with one of her favorite teachers, Ms. Coyne. We plan to eat at a Mexican restaurant in Danville.

Sincerely,
Jessica Rimington
