Dar, Tanzania- Jan. 28th 2005

Hi everyone!

Thank you so much to everyone involved with the Dr. Herman Wrice Community Center! We had an amazing time getting to know all of the students and working on One World Youth Project with them!!

Today we traveled from Arusha, Tanzania to Dar, Tanzania by bus... it took 9 hours...so we had some time on our hands! We decided to write a poem about One World Youth Project...here it is... hope you enjoy it!

P.S. On Sunday we fly to Ethiopia!

One World
By, Jessica Rimington & Lindsey Tong

We are the leaders of today. We are the leaders of tomorrow.
No longer will we let life pass us by. No longer will we watch the sorrow.

We are taking a stand for what we believe in. We will not let the adults take full
control,
because as the youth of today, we play an important role.

We know by not taking action, by never changing our ways,
we will never move forward, our world will only decay.

That is why this is so important, why we feel the need for change.
That is why the first aspect is cultural exchange.

If we can understand and celebrate the differences that make each culture unique,
then, and only then, will we bring about the change of which we speak.

But, let not the differences blind us. Recognize that deep down we are all the
same.
See the lust for acceptance. Feel not the need for blame.

With this new found knowledge and unity of souls, we can work together
to implement the eight United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

Service to the community is the key. Thinking globally, acting locally-
with commitment, this can be.

Although resting on an unstable world, as leaders we emerge.
We see that each of us makes a difference. And with this understanding, we converge.

We see the need for connectivity, sustainability, and compassion. We know we have
the power.
It may seem an impossible task, but from this we will not cower.

So, you see, there is hope. Barriers have been lifted in the past.
All great change begins with you and me. But, we must start working fast.

Let us join together to abolish what prevents the success.
With the seeds of change in our hands,
it is this- one world- we have come to address!
