Feb. 9th - Dar, Tanzania

It is about the time in the trip when you start surveying your "battle" wounds. Here is Jessica's list (Lindsey's is to come soon)....It should be clear that this is not, by any means, a list of complaints... but rather a physical description of traveling... a matter of interest...a scientific study...

- at least 7 cuts on my feet
- 17 insect bites of all shapes and sizes on my legs
- 5 cuts on my fingers
- burn/tan in the shape of my sandal straps on my feet
- scalp... most definitely burned
- face burned...but now turning to tan...which is nice
- visible dirt on skin: far more than is desirable
- dirt under fingernails: persistent clusters that refuse to vacate
- 1 strange small rash on left hand
- 1 burn/rash on lower left leg due to encounter with evil, prickly, burning plant
- times been able to shower in last 2 weeks: 4 (one with a bucket)
- times have thrown up: 1
- times had a lactaid attack: 1
- times almost passed out: 1
- times thought the key to the house gate in Ethiopia was lost: 1
- scary taxi ride: 1
- car accident: 1 (no injuries)
- times dreamt of Sheraton hotel in Paris (where we are staying the last night of the trip): 8
- times woken up and been unsure which country was in: 3
- Imodium tablets used: 3
- tooth brushes gone through: 3 (due to insect encounters)
- malaria pills taken: 4
- pickpocket/theft attempts: 5+
- successful theft/pickpocketing: 0 (hooray for us!)
- times narrowly avoided falling into ditch with open pipes and electrical lines: 1
- times surprised by hearing Britney Spears music at random times in foreign countries: 4
- times wished short hair looked good on me: 3

Cheers!
Jess
