Yelapa, Mexico

For the next two weeks members of the Green Team from Sherwood High School in Maryland will be posting entries on their experiences visiting their sister-school in Yelapa, Mexico! Enjoy! -Jess :)

Yesterday we all went to the beach. I didn't feel like going in the water. The overcast weather finally subsided and the sun came out! It was wonderful. We all looked for seashells in the sand. Our homestay sister Jasmin told us where to swim where there would be the least jellyfish. Gillian was stung, unfortunately, on her neck. She had blackish bluish vein-y mark on her neck. I felt terrible! She is much better now after some lime and some kind of ointment. While the others went to a dance (I forget the name of it, Baya- Bayou?), Gillian and I stayed home and went to bed early. I was very tired from the sun and she from her sea-creature-incident. Our homestay mother made us french-toast for breakfast and we watched Cinderella in Spanish! I am learning new words every day. After breafast we went up to Casa Isabels, and then to a beautiful old graveyard. As I am terribly unathletic I sweated like a pig, but it was worth it to see the burial grounds. I took pictures with expired Ektachrome. I hope they come out nice. Later we are going to a rapid-soccer tournament. We plan on resting and watching! The hike made us all tired! I must go! I love it here! Everyone is so nice!
Adios!
Kate
