Who: Rafiki wa Mazingira Club (Friends of the Environment Club)

Where: Bukoba, Tanzania

 

 

Rafiki wa Mazingira Club, is made-up by a total of 32 students from two Secondary schools found in Bukoba Municipality. Out of these, 17 students are of Bukoba Secondary schools and the rest 15 students are studying at Kahororo Secondary School. Both students are perusing O-level education. The club consists of good proportion of boys and girls. Majority of members have been selected from form two and form three. Club members are pro-active, charming, and eager to learn and share culture, like working for the community and self sustainability.  Their mission is clean environment for development.

 

Rafiki wa Mazingira Club is located in urban Bukoba. The main office is found at Bukoba Secondary school. Members from Kahororo are experiencing good weather by virtue of being close to the shore of Lake Victoria. They are also surrounded by villages and hills. The community around Kahororo composes of small scale farmers and fishers.  Bukoba Secondary Schools are about 3 kilometer from Kahororo. It is found in the nucleus of Bukoba municipality council. It is close to Regional offices such as Post office, National Bank of Commerce, regional commodity market and Bukoba Government Hospital. The historic church built by Cardinal Laurean Rugambwa is found around Bukoba secondary. Bukoba Sec. and Kahororo are all connected by electricity. However, Bukoba Sec. is closer to internet services and other public services than Kahororo.
