Who: New Canaan Country School

Where: New Canaan, Connecticut, United States

New Canaan Country School is an independent day school located in Fairfield County, Connecticut. New Canaan is approximately 50 miles from New York City. Over 600 students in grades pre-Kindergarten through 9th grade attend NCCS.

A deep belief in tradition and fundamental skills anchors us to the past. A keen interest in innovation and continuous improvement keeps us focused on the future. Students face a challenging and exciting curriculum which focuses on academic skills and character education. Emphasis is placed on commitment to community: at school, in the neighboring towns and globally.

The 8th grade social studies curriculum is a World Cultures course. About 67 8th graders study different regions of the world. We are very excited about the One World Youth Project because because communication with students in another part of the world enhances our World Cultures course and ties in with our commitment to community by working towards the Millennium Development Goals.
