Feb. 12th - Kibale National Park, near Fort Portal, Uganda

Travel Journal excerpt...
We are in Uganda now. The sounds of the jungle are shrill- and all around us. Ringing in our ears like a million miniature cymbals all being hit at the same time. These sounds are intersected by deep guttural noises...like Spanish dance calls mixed with a cat's purr. Rustling, squealing, mosquitoes buzzing...all of it melts into one constant wave of beats. Music. Honest. We can see bits of the orange sunset through the green silhouettes of tall, thin trees, branches, and vines. A monkey just ran across the yard...with great speed...then upon reaching the edge of the forest, rustles it all up - shakes the trees - squeaks...and then enters the blackness- to become just another part of the jungle rhythm. A nightly routine I suppose. It is evening- dusk- the forest is waking. 7:14pm.
We love Uganda!
