How important is education in your community, town or city? Is it something every child expects to receive? On average, how long do children in your community remain in school?

Education is very important, it plays a vital role in our community because it helps in preparing children for a better future. Of course, its something every child expect to receive but unfortunately ,not every child in our community has the opportunity to go to school because of a lack of financial support . The longest is four hours daily.

Do the majority of the young people in our community receive an education? If so, is this education equal? If not, what prevents some from receiving an education?

The majority of the young peoples in our community are not educated, because of below problems:

1. Their parents do not have the hand (financially) to support their childern in school

2. Some children delibratly refuse to attend school and want to be live free lives.
3. Some do not enocouage their children because they also do not the importance of education but rather belive in traditional education.

Reflect
Look at the answers to your questions above , base on your response , do you feel the education some region of your community ,city, town or province \state could improved if so, how? If not why?

Our answer is yes , if our governments can help in providing schools, vocational schools that children and the youth could attend at the reasonable rate that at least everybody can afford then its going to improve the educational system.

Act-
How could help achieve UN MDG2? How could you help expand the educational opportunities offer to young peoples in your community, town or city?

We could help by motivating our friends to get involved in educational activities and also going to school. We could be a help by getting them aware of these opportunities and encouraging them to be apart knowing that education is the way out to life.

Can you think of a project you and your peers might be able to design and implement in your community in order to help reach goal two (2)

Our project will be with the availability of funds, opening of a tailoring shop for the sewing of free uniforms which will be distributed to children that are going to school and don’t have uniforms . This will also provide oppounittes for the young females to acqure skill and be self-reliance after acquiring the skill.

How important is education in our community?  Is it equal?

Education is very important in our city, and country as a whole.  Every child expects to have an opportunity to attend school because it is nearly free until college and also it is the law that children are to be in school at least until high school.  Kids start school at 5 or 6 years old, or preschool at 2 years old, and remain in school until about 18 when they finish high school.  After that some students go right to college for 4 years or so, and some take a break before going to college.  Unfortunately, some student do not go to college by choice or because they can’t afford it.  There are cheaper community colleges, but even the cheaper rates are often too expensive without a school loan or financial aid of some sort.  Lots of students work while going to college. Across the different schools from preschools to colleges, the more expensive schools will offer better curriculums and more activities and opportunities for students to prosper once out of school.  There is a lot of competition, especially at the college level, to get into these schools because it will impress future employers.

How important is education in community, town, or city? Is it every child expects to receive?

On average, how long do children in your community remain in school?   Apparently education is likely not to be considered in my community. My community does not value education at all. It’s not something that every child expects to receive, especially girls. This is due to poor economic status and traditional beliefs. Only few percent of children do remain in schools after primary education. Larger number of these children so to help their poor families.

Do the majority of the young people in your community receive an education? If so, is this education equal? If not, what prevents some of them from receiving an education?

In my community some young people either have never enrolled or having dropped out of the education system. Others do not attend schools at all, all these some time is caused by parents death which lead children to become orphans. Others is just because of economic constraints, the elder sons/daughters become responsible of their family once one of the parent passes away (especially father).

REFLECT

Do you feel the education in some regions of your community, town, city, or province/state could improve? If so, how? If not, why?

I think education in my community can improve only if my can put it as a first priority in its strategic plans. Community members have to be ready to change and participate in educational community outreach programs.

ACT

How could you help achieve UN Millennium Development Goal 2? How could you improve or expand the educational opportunities offered to young people in your community, town, or city?

I could improve by me cooperating with my colleagues doing educational activities to the community we belong. This will help to motivate the community the importance of education especially to our fellow young boys and girls. Most girls are not privileged to access education compare to boys.. And we think that education is the strongest weapon we can have and no one can take it away from us. And also it is the way out of poverty

Can you think of a project you and your peers might be able to design and implement in your community in order to help reach Goal 2?

I think the project we can design with my colleagues is visiting each and every family in rural areas in my community and educate them the importance of education.

SURVEY OF PRIMARY EDUCATION IN OUR COMMUNITY

Are there primary schools available for both boys and girls? In my community there are two primary schools. And there are for both boys and girls.
Do these schools charge tuition and /or uniform fees? Schools in my community don't charge tuition fees. But for the case of uniform, each pupil is responsible for his/her own uniform, so it is the issue of parents themselves. And because of this, many of the pupils are having old and torn uniforms. Because most of them own only one pair of uniform, and have to wear it all five days of the week!!! And they depart from school in late hours for them to wash uniforms, so it is most likely to find pupils in dirty uniforms.
Are the schools near housing (or is transportation provided) The schools are near housing for those who live nearby, but for others its quite far. And there are no any means of transportation other than walking on foot!!!
Are there separate toilet facilities for girls? Yeah, in community the toilets for boys and girls are separated. But the other problem is that those toilets are not in a good shape!! And dangerous for the pupils safety and health.
Are families encouraged to send their sons and daughters to school? Families are encouraged to send their children to school but there is much motivation for them. Most of the children work for their families.
What percentage of children complete primary education? Is it different for boys and girls? A big number of children do complete primary school, most of them are boys. Some girls get pregnancy and fail to complete school.
Is government funding adequate? Is it distributed fairly? For the last two years the government has tried a lot on funding primary schools through a program known as MEMM. It has built many schools, but the problem is teaching materials are not available. The funding distribution is quite fair, but there are some cases where some head teachers have been accused of misusing that money for their own benefits.

CONCEPT MAPPING TO SHOW THE POSSIBLE CAUSES AND EFFECTS

OF BEING UNABLE TO GET PRIMARY EDUCATION

Actually it is not Important as for the Poor People they have no benefit to educate their Children but Rich people see it very Important ,So we can say that the education is divided into two levels .No its not every Child expects to receive it,because  for rich ones expect it but the Poor ones are not .In Average they stay 7 hours a day ,as  the y Start Class from  8:00am up to 3:00pm.

Do the majority of the people in your community receive an education? If so ,is this education equal ?If not ,what prevents some from receiving an Education?

No its not majority its minority .

Its due to Poverty and Ignorant .Poor people like when w e Visited Olonyosambu Primary School we found that people of that  place are not sending their Children to get Education due to Poverty. Also due to Ignorant in Mind they send their Children to look after the Cattle than Study.

The Perfect Youth Group acted on UN MDG 2

by visiting a local village

Hello
We would like to share the photos with you, when we had visited the village which is about 30 km from Arusha, where by we met villagers and we teach them the Importance of Education to them and their children. The parents were seems not to understand us, Because others said that "I can not send my child to school but he suppose to look after cattle and I can not send my daughter to school because when she reach 15yrs she must be married". So that is the situation we fuond there. But after the meeting with the parents and children which took about 4hrs we succeded to advice them and teach them what are the Importance of Education. Something good and realy encourage us is that 60% of parents agreed to send their children to school and to support them we provided some exercise books and pencils to their children to support their(Parents) decisions.
The money we used to buy exercise books and Pencils are from the contribution of the PYG members for that activity.
Thanks,
Perfect Brothers (PYG Leaders)

Yes they will be Improved ,as if the Citizens could be educated and remove their Illussion of thinking that working (Digging) is better that Studying. Also if our Government will take actions on Education  and Improved the Teaching Standards by Eliminate all Unwanted  fees as well as giving Perioriy to Childrens for Studying. As our Community of Tanzania are lacking of Education so as we went on the Northern part of Tanzania (OldonyoSambu Village) they Real suffer with the Problem so as we work hard will Improve that what needed is to work hard and Penetrate far to the Interial which is more affected.

Can you think of the Project you and your peers might be able to design and Implement in your community in order to help reach Goal 1?

We think that Arts Project can  work with us as we know that Arts is real the Mirror of the Society ,Since will be Producing Dramas,Traditional Dances Producing Arts  and sell them for Fundrising  for the Goal  number 2which is Universal Primary Education  we think that we can Rise Money for helping them Interms of Teaching Materials ie book,Pencials,Pens,TextBooks etc.We think that can work much for making Changes in Education Sector.
