The OWYP project year runs from September until May/June.
In Septem ber you will become familiar with One World Youth Project and start learning about and communicating with your Project Pair group.
In October you will begin using the OWYP curriculum. This month focuses on the importance of cultural exchange in taking positive action. You will also have a chance to participate in the"STAND UP" against poverty campaign! Also, you will continue to communicate with your Project Pair group.
In November you will learn about the United Nations Millennium Development Goals with a special focus on the Goal that has been assigned to you and your Project Pair group. Remember, your Project Pair group is also studying the same curriculum... you may want to share information through the OWYP forum boards.
In December you will be introduced to the story of a real person whose life is related to your focus MDG. This first episode of their story provides background information on the featured story-teller and his/her community.
In January you will learn about the 'climax' incident in the featured story. You will also begin planning your MDG Community Service Project. This is a great time to be in close contact with your Project Pair group. How can you work together to create parallel Service Projects that help each of your communities?
In February you will connect the issues discussed in your MDG story to a larger context and think about the cause and effect of your MDG. You will also continue planning your MDG Service Project.
In March your featured story-teller will talk about possible solutions to their focus MDG and why they have hope for the future. Your MDG Service project will probably be underway by this time. Keep communicating with your Project Pair!
In April you will examine how your focus MDG connects to the overall issue of poverty. You wll be continuing to work with your Project Pair group on your respective MDG Service Projects. You will also celebrate MDG Awareness Day this month!
In May/June you will conclude your MDG Service Project and celebrate your success!
