Global Campaign for Education

www.campaignforeducationusa.org

The Global Campaign for Education (GCE) is a broad coalition of development and education research agencies and unions, representing organizations active in over 100 countries. Members include Oxfam, National Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, Save the Children, and Catholic Relief Services. The GCE’s aim is for every child in the world to get a quality basic education. Right now, 103 million children between the ages of 6-11 are out of school, and around 60 million of those missing out will be girls. Despite this education crisis, there is little media attention on the urgent need to get children into school. One of GCE's major aims is to increase media coverage of this vital issue so that we can mobilize public support to call on the world’s governments to provide education funding.  In addition to many other activities, every April, GCE holds a WEEK OF ACTION – dedicated to promoting the goal of a quality basic education for all children in the poorest nations in the world.
