Who: RESPECT Intellectual Club

Where: Salala, Bong County, Liberia

The RESPECT Intellectual Club is a unique youth being run by youth for youth. The club is located in Salala, Bong County, which is a part of Liberia.

The club was established the early part of May 2007, when three young men saw that the a larger part of Liberia knew nothing about the United Nations M.D.G s and wanted to help in educating them after having knowledge on the goals set aside by the United Nations to be achieved by 2015

The club is mentored by team of coordinators and its leadership structure begins from the:
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT, GENERAL ADMINISTRATOR, FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR & A GOVERNOR.

The newly established club was connected to the One World Youth Project through one of the coordinators who was once a member in Ghana. The population of the club is about 30 active members with over 70 persons in all of which 40 inactive. Members of the club are of the ages 15- 21. Members of the club are from selected schools within the district mentioned above.

The aims and Objectives of the club are as follow:
1. To promote the United Nations MDGs
2. To promote leadership ability in youth
3. To promote youth empowerment
4. To give hope to the hopeless i.e.(to help encourage those who have lost hope due to the 14 year civil war in Liberia)
5. To reach out to the needy kids and provide them good sanitary conditions
6. To HELP find all the solutions to our African PROBLEMS

In other to achieve our objectives the club organizes:

  1. WORKSHOPS
  2. YOUTH TRAINING
  3. CLEANING - UP- EXERCISES
  4. PEACE MARCHES
  5. QUIZZING COMPETITION, etc

The club's motto is:
"CONNECTING AND ENHANCING COMMUNITIES FOR YOUTH ACTION"
The club operates on funds generated from its members in the form of DUES, FINES, TAXATION OR PLEDGES.  There are no external sources of getting money to operate the club.
