1) How would you describe your community?
The community has a great social iniquality, total abandoment of the whole community, pollution in some parts of the beaches and mangroves, hunger, lack of health and maternity care, however it is a beautiful place with a lot of nature mangroves, dunes, and beautiful beaches and we live in contact with nature every day. There are also churches, two public schools kindergarden a square, a cultural center. a small market. hotels and the ecological camp of SESC Iparana.
2) What do you like the most abut your community? Least?
We like the nature, the beaches, mangroves, the beautiful sunset, animals, the lakes surf the dolphins and the calmness at night .The noise is much less than a big city.
The community has a great social inaquality and total abandonment of the government as there isnt basic sewage system and most of the sewage go directly to the sea, a lot of garbage around, not enough public telephones, removal of the dune system used for the construction companies the removal of trees and fires in the mangroves. The high unemployment rate lack of medicines and the spead of diseases due to the amount of garbage is also a big problem
3) What are your concerns for the local community? What problems do you see? List five to eight concerns.
Our main concerns are the great social inaquality, the garbage the removal of the dune system, the high unemployment, diseases the sewage system is poor and the community live with these problems and do nothing to solve it.
4) What goals could you set to lessen the impact of these problems or eliminate your concerns?
- Organize a big gathering involving our group, the community restaurants schools young and old people the prefecture and have different activities so that everyone gets involved. to talk about the problems of the community and how these can be resolved, so than we start to make people aware of the problem. Listen to all sides and take notes.Call TV and radio for the event. Think of a slogan for the event.
- Organize and get in contact with interested members that want to be involved in the event. and start looking for sponsors that woulld like to sponsor the event.
- In the event write down telephone numbers of members willing to participate in monthly meetings for a better Iparana.
- Start to call companies to see if they can help to collect the garbage.
- Start from home: teenagers teaching parents about the selection of garbage.
- Protest in front of the prefecture demanding better heath and sewage systems. And organize a meeting with the mayor of the community .
- Start having monthly reunions with community and everyone that wants to be involved for a better Iparana. Organize people legate obligations and start to notice community leaders.
- Follow up with another meeting to find out the results of the last meeting and so on
- Get everyone involved so that everyone participates
- Environmnetal Education in schools
Now our goals for 2015
- Garbage selection for the whole community
- Eliminate the pollution in the beaches and the mangroves
- Have a more environmental conscious community
- The whole community working toguether for the same goal
- Better living and working conditions for the population
- Eliminate the garbage in the community and so eliminating diseases caused by the garbage such as dengue fever.
