Who:
Walnut High School
Where: Walnut , California, United States
To give a simple characterization of Walnut is difficult. Our community is relaxed without being dull and mundane. However, neither is it glitzy or hectic. Walnut is noted for its strong education system versus surrounding cities popular for their large shopping centers and businesses.
We come from many backgrounds, but we all share that one Walnut identity. This energy transfers into the high school. The community’s relatively small size actually allows for a greater level of tolerance on campus. We may have our separate cliques and cultures that we relate to, but we are all part of a youth culture which transcends ethnicity and stereotype. We actively participate in school sports, school service, and community volunteering. On the other hand, we understand the balance between handling academic p
ressures and just being kids.
This mural is the distinguishing feature of the school. The facets representing different parts of the world encourage students to embrace on-campus diversity. Hopefully students realize that, although we are different, we are still one when they see the separate views joining together to form the mustangs (Walnut Mustangs).
In the time when students are running from one class to the other, this courtyard is one of the busiest parts of the school.
