Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) is an international school representing over 57 nationalities and 42 languages. Western Academy offers the International Baccalaureate Program and strives to "educate our children to reach their full potential in a warm and caring community that fosters excellence and responsibility."
Students are encouraged to excel academically and to pursue individual interests through a broad range of activities including Sports, Music and Creative Arts, Model United Nations, Student Council, Outdoor Experient
ial Learning and Adventure, Student Leadership, and the Global Issues Network.
The Global Issues Network empowers young people to work together with their peers to help find solutions to global problems. The Global Issues Network at WAB is currently working on a water project in rural China. Western Academy of Beijing is hosting the first Global Issues Network Conference in Asia
in April 2008. Students and teachers from international schools throughout Asia will attend to explore ways that "youth can make a difference" in helping to create a better and more peaceful world. The theme of the conference is Earth's Hope: Make Poverty History/ Create a Healthy Planet.
