Summary Report

• Meeting with Officials of the Ministry of Education

On Monday, November 21, 2005, a five persons delegation from YHRI Liberia met with two officials from the Ministry of Education in the conference room of the Ministry. The five persons delegation was headed by Mr. Thomas Mitchell, Country Director of YHRI Liberia.

At the beginning of the official meeting, Mr. Andrew Kuwon, Program Coordinator of YHRI Liberia read a presentation statement, emphasizing on YHRI Liberia human rights activities, YHRI Liberia Clubs establishment for student basis understanding of their rights, and the Child Literacy Program Initiative (CLPI). Mr. Andrew Kuwon also through the presentation requested for an official letter of authorization from the Ministry of Education to implement human rights programs in various schools across the country.

The Ministry of Education officials who attended the meeting were Mr. Paye L. Nuhann, Director of Adult Education and Mr. David B. Walton, Administrative Assistant to the Minister of Education. The received the presentation statement and said the Ministry will view the request of YHRI Liberia and respond appropriately.
